Review: “The Little Money Book” edited by David Boyle

In dog we trust.

                Once again, the ironically named “Disinformation” company has come out with yet another anthology of information aimed to enlighten the reader (this time) on the subject of money, its origins, its abuse, and possible alternative monetary models. David Boyle laces together snippets of other larger works written by economists and presents them in a format which is enlightening, easy to read, and small enough to fit in your coat pocket. In the tradition of “The Little Earth Book” and “The Little Food Book”, information is concentrated and reduced into bite-sized bits, making it very easy to read; even for those with little time on their hands.
                Though I believed myself to be well-informed on the subject of money, “The Little Money Book” humbled me by presenting a veritable treasure trove of facts which I would be unaware of had I not read them in this book. The book opens with a speech given by Guaicaipuro Cuatemoc, on the debt leveraged against South America by the European money power – and suggests that it is they who are in debt to South America;

                “Let it be clear that we do not stoop to charging the villainous leech rates of 20% and up to 30% that our European brothers charge the peoples of the third world. We merely require the return of the precious metals advanced, plus the modest accumulated interest of 10% for a period of 300 years with a 200-year period of grace.

                “On this basis, and applying the European formula for compound interest, we advise our ‘discoverers’ that they owe us, as initial payment on the debt, a mass of 185,000 kilos [203.93 tons] of gold and 16,000,000 kilos [17,636.98 tons] of silver. As for the interest, we are owed 440,000,000,000,000,000 kilos of gold and 38,000,000,000,000,000,000 kilos of silver (or 1% of the mass of the moon). At the rates of mid-2002 that equates to a total of US$391,000,000,000,000,000,000 or 391 million million million dollars [over 16,900 million million million dollars by 2005 rates].”  (Boyle, pages 8-9)

                After a brief introduction by David Boyle, the book then delves into the origins of money from being a means of making peace to the selling of prostitutes. Usury plays a big role in this book, as it is now being practices on virtually every corner of the Earth. The book also delves into a subject in which I was unaware; usury is outlawed by Islam. This could be the motivation behind anti-Muslim movements and wars which are at the forefront of global politics today. After all, Central Bankers can’t own the world if one section of the world will not allow it. Globalism would not exist if it were not for usury.
                Some authors contained in the book are Globalists, which I find startling. The idea of presenting a global currency to stabilize world economy is a dangerous and deceitful idea. With the advent of one world economic system, a one world government would not be long following. These Globalists are, however, balanced by an equal amount of “Green” economists, presenting more sensible alternatives to our monetary woes.

                One thing I thought the book lacked was information concerning the lecherous private bank the Federal Reserve. The only information about it touched lightly on the subject and brushed it aside as being quite innocuous, which it isn’t. I also think the book could have had more on the monopolies of oil and gold to control the fluctuations of the market. But those issues aside, “The Little Money Book” is very informative.

                The book closes on alternative monetary models, including the suggestion to “Do-It-Yourself”, and focuses on the fact that money itself is not the problem, rather; greed. All-in-all, “The Little Money Book” is a must read for every consumer interested (or uninterested) in the subject of money. Even those “Have-Nots” should take a look inside, for the issue of money affects us all, for better or worse.
